Mayo Meteors will have to do without head coach Terry Kennedy for the time being
The news came like a bombshell: Prolific Mayo Meteors head coach Terry Kennedy has decided to step down from his duties for the time being. The Mayo News understands that Kennedy's departure is temporary for now, even though the future remains uncertain.
The coaching role will be filled by Anthony McHale and co-founder and player Daniel Nyland on an interim basis.
Since the Castlebar based outfit was founded three years ago by Alex Evans and Nyland, the experienced Kennedy has been an integral part of the team's meteoric rise, improving the team and developing the club every year.
Kennedy is best known for his time coaching Ballina during their heyday, for example winning the national cup in 1991 with legendary players like Deora Marsh and Liam McHale.
The news of Kennedy's departure came ahead of the next home match for the Meteors who will play Castlerea at St Gerald's in Castlebar this Saturday at 7pm.
