The Murrisk Missile breaks lap record on Mondello Park

Murrisk's Brian O'Malley is blazing a trail in the highly-competitive bike-racing world

A Mayo teenage bike racer is blazing a trail on both sides of the Irish Sea. Brian O'Malley (15) is racing in the UK in the British Superbike Championship and is also rocketing around the track in the Irish series, the Principal Masters Superbike Championship on his Kawasaki zx4rr 400 motorcycle.

The racer, known as The Murrisk Missile, is currently lying second in the Irish Championship after a stunning performance in Mondello Park where he won all three races and also twice broke the lap record in the Moto 400 class over the weekend.

Brian is the youngest rider in this class and is racing against well-seasoned and previous champions such as Damien Horgan, Andrew Murphy and Michael Owens.

There are two rounds of the championship to be raced and one more win may win the title for the hugely talented racer from the shores of Clew Bay.
