A man in his 40s has died after an early-morning crash between a car and a lorry in Co Cavan on Monday.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash involving a car and a lorry on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock, at around 7.30am this morning.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital.
The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions remain in place.
In statement, gardaí said: "Shortly before 7:30am Emergency Services and Gardaí responded to a collision involving a car and a lorry on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock.

"The driver of the car, a male in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. The lorry driver, a male in his 60s, was taken to hospital for assessment.
"The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions remain in place."
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
"Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí," the statement added.
