Gardaí say the fatal incident happened at Monasterevin Road, Kildare Town on Tuesday evening

Witnesses are being sought after man died following a road traffic collision County Kildare on Tuesday evening,

According to gardai, the collision involved a car and a pedestrian and occurred at approximately 6pm on the R445 Monasterevin Road, leaving Kildare Town in the direction of Monasterevin.

"The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, has been pronounced dead and his body remains at the scene," said a garda spokesperson who confirmed that no other injuries have been reported.

Motorists are being advised the road when the incident occurred is currently closed between Monasterevin and Kildare Town with local diversions in place.

Gardai say a technical examination of the scene will be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators and they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

"Any road users, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the area between 5pm and 6:30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí," said a spokesperson.

Investigations are ongoing.
