An Irish woman in her 70s has died days after suffering serious injuries in a late-night road crash in Kerry last week.
The woman was the sole occupant of a car involved in a single-vehicle collision on the N23 in Lisheenbaun, Castleisland, shortly before midnight on Wednesday, December 10. Emergency services rushed to the scene and she was taken by ambulance to hospital in a critical condition.
Gardaí confirmed this morning that the woman has since passed away from her injuries.
Following her death, gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses as investigations into the crash continue.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred on Wednesday 10th December 2025.
“The female driver and sole occupant of the car, aged in her 70s, was removed from the scene to hospital. She has since passed away.”
The crash occurred at approximately 11.40pm, and gardaí are seeking to hear from anyone who may have been in the area before or after the crash.
“Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling in the area between 11.20pm and 11.50pm are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí,” the spokesperson said.
