BREAKING: Man arrested after gardaí discover 'number' of improvised explosive devices
An Garda Síochána have confirmed the arrest of a man in his 40s in connection to the discovery of a number of attempted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the northeast and southwest of the country over the weekend.
Gardaí said the man was arrested during an operation on Sunday evening, 6 July involving National, Regional and local Garda units in Monaghan.
The man is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the northwestern region.

Gardaí said they will continue to liaise with colleagues in the PSNI in relation to the investigation.
No further information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
