Tributes have poured in following the death of Irish actor Colin Farrells father Eamon Farrell, who sadly passed away on Wednesday following a long illness.
Eamon, late of Glasnevin, formerly of Castleknock, Dublin, was the beloved husband of Eileen, the loving father of Eamon, Catherine, Claudine and Colin and beloved brother of the late Tommy, Maureen and Sean.
The beloved father and grandfather is a former Shamrock Rovers player, playing in the 1960s with his brother Tommy. He was part of Rover's 1962 FAI Cup winning team, while his brother Tommy won the League and Cup double in 1964.
Shamrock Rovers have paid tribute to Eamon with a heartfelt post on social media along with an old picture of Eamon wearing his Rovers jersey.
The post said,
"Eamon joined Rovers in 1960 at 18 years of age from the famous schoolboy nursery club Home Farm.
"A half back who was a minor and schoolboy Ireland international, Eamon played alongside his older brother Tommy during his time at Milltown. Both were on the team that beat Shelbourne in the FAI Cup final in 1962 played in front of an attendance of 32,000.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."

Colin, most well known for his roles in In Brugge, The Lobster and most recently Penguin, has said he always dreamed of following in his father's footsteps when he was a young boy.
Farrell played for is local team Castleknock Celtic as a teenager, saying, "I played until I was about 15 and I thought it was what I wanted to do. And then I realised I'd do something less meaningful...like acting."
More tributes have been paid on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eamon, with many remembering him as "A tur Gentleman", "A fantastic friend", and "Great craic".
Eamon will be reposing at his home in Glasnevin on Friday evening, April 11, from 6pm to 8pm for family and friends.
Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, April 12, at 10am at the Church of Our Lady of Victories, Ballymun Road, followed by cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium at 12.20pm approximately.
