Thousands of people across Ireland could be eligible for a one-off social welfare payment of €2,000 which is set to open on Tuesday, April 1.
The Carer's Support grant, which has increased from €1,850 from last year, provides a lump-sum payment to carers which can be spent however the recipient wishes.
The grant is available to all full-time carers across the country who are providing care for people with disabilities and the elderly.
The one-off grant will not be means tested and is paid for each person the carer is caring for, meaning they will receive multiple payments if they are caring for multiple people.

The Carer's Support Grant will be paid automatically to those receiving the following payments:

When to apply?
You can apply for the Carer's Support Grant for any given year from April 1 of that year until December 31 of the following year.
If you don't receive any of the above payments, but received the Carer's Grant the pervious year, you may not need to reapply.
When is the Carer's Support Grant paid?
The Carer's Support Grant is paid once a year to carer's on the first Thursday in June (June 5, 2025) and is fully exempt from income tax, PRSI and USC.
