Unaccompanied learner driver who tried to play 'hide and seek' with Gardaí also had no tax

An unaccompanied learner driver has been caught trying to play "hide and seek" with Gardaí.

According to Gardaí, Dundalk officers were setting up a checkpoint when they noticed the driver's car turn away.

When they caught up, they discovered the driver was unaccompanied, had no L plates, insurance or tax.

In a post about the incident published on X (formerly Twitter) a Garda spokesperson stated the driver had "failed miserably" to evade Gardaí.

They stated: "Gardaí have seized the car from this young driver and prosecution will follow.

"Risky young driver behaviour like this can have lasting consequences. It is all our own individual responsibility to use the roads safety."
