ANDRE Braugher, who was known for playing Captain Raymond Holt in the comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has died at the age of 61, after what is said to be a "brief illness".
Tributes have been flooding in all over the internet for the beloved actor.
His co-star on the popular American sitcom, Terry Crews, took to Instagram to say: "Can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent.
"This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship."

His friend, acclaimed actress Viola Davis took to Instagram to write: "Heartbreaking. You went way too soon. I loved every minute of working with you."
You were a great man. God bless your children, your beautiful wife."
Under this post, his Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star, Stephanie Beatriz commented a simple, yet poignant, broken heart emoji.

Co-star and producer, Kyra Sedgwick, who played Captain Wunch in the police series, took to her Instagram story to pay tribute, saying: "Heartbroken to hear about the passing of the brilliant Andre Braugher."
"Playing his other half in Brooklyn Nine-Nine will forever be one of the highlights of my career."
Mr Braugher was fond of policing roles, as he played Detective Frank Pemberton in Homicide, which earned him his first Emmy win in 1998.
It was also reported that the acclaimed actor was also an advocate during the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, where he often reflected on his roles as police officers during that turbulent time.
