Ryan Tubridy says he hasn't watched Patrick Kielty's Late Late Show amid fresh start

Tubridy told The Irish Sun he too did try to ‘revamp’ the show during his time in RTÉ

RYAN Tubridy is not a regular viewer of Patrick Kielty’s Late Late Shows as his ‘diary is always busy on Friday nights.’

Ryan told The Irish Sun; “Gay was right. The truth of the matter is, when you do Friday nights for 14 years the last thing you want to do is watch TV on a Friday night. I have been studiously working my way through my diary to meet people on a Friday night. I haven’t watched the Late Late and it’s not out of any badness. Make sure you print that, because it’s not that at all. I respect Paddy, I think he’s a great broadcaster, and I presume he is doing great and I wish him all the very best. I feel it’s Patrick’s time to shine, it’s me, and I don’t want to be looking over the wall. I’m not giving him any advice, he will do his own thing”.

Tubridy told The Irish Sun he too did try to ‘revamp’ the show during his time in RTÉ.

“I said for the last three years to shorten the Late Late, to have less parts, and they did eventually do that.”

Ryan will be lighting up Clifden, Galway on toy show night as he is set to make a very public appearance on the same night as Kietly's first ever Late Late Toy Show.

The former RTÉ star said he was "honoured" at being selected for the task on Friday November 24 in what he called his "favourite town".

Virgin Radio UK announced Thursday morning that the former RTÉ presenter will be joining the weekday lineup on the station next year for the 10am -1pm mid morning slot.

His new show, launching early January 2024 will be broadcast live from London simultaneously on Dublin’s Q102, marking Ryan's return to Irish radio.

He is also set to present a dedicated Irish weekend show across a number of local radio stations in the Wireless Ireland group - including Live95, Dublin’s Q102, Cork’s 96FM and LMFM in the north-east, all of which are owned by Virgin Radio UK's parent company, News Corp.
