WESTPORT athletics star Freya Renton set another record tumbling this afternoon (Saturday) after she took almost four seconds off the 1500m record at the 123.ie National Juvenile Track and Field Championships.
Westport AC landed five medals in total on a day when Freya and her twin sister Holly Renton won gold and silver in the U-15 1500m race, their first ever 1, 2 in the National Athletics championships.
Freya's time of 4:31.8 was the fastest female 1500m of the day, also beating the U16, U17, U18 and U19 girls' times.
Sporadic downpours of rain weren't enough to stop Westport AC from putting in an excellent showing in Tullamore, with May Duckett (girls U-14 1500m), Rory Kilkelly (U-15 boys pole vault) and Emma Edmundson (U-16 girls javelin) all winning bronze in their respective events.
