LEGENDARY The late Gerry O'Donnell will be honoured by Connacht Rugby tonight
A legendary figure of Mayo rugby will be honoured at the Connacht Rugby Awards event in Galway tonight. Gerry O'Donnell, who passed away last July was a former player, captain, coach, President and Patron of Ballina RFC and served as Connacht President during Connacht's PRO 12 winning season of 2015/16.
The Ballinrobe native was renowned for his passion for the game and the people involved in the sport he loved so well. His knowledge of the people in the game the length and breadth of Ireland was without measure and he had rugby friends in every corner of the land.
His devotion to the development of young talent knew no bounds and many of recent Connacht and Irish caps for Ballina players can be traced back to the encouragement and support they got from O'Donnell and the coaches in the Moyside club.
