WESTPORT AC’s Freya Renton soared to new heights this weekend after she set an all-time record at the National Juvenile Indoor Championships at TUS International Arena in Athlone.
The Westport youngster smashed the previous record by an entire second when she clocked 2:12.12 in the 800-metre event at the U-15 Girls Championship.

Freya and her twin sister, Holly, have taken the local and national athletics scene by storm in recent years.
The Renton twins recently flew the Irish flag by when they took home gold and bronze at the SIAB Schools Cross Country International Competition the Junior Girls category.
Freya placed first 23 seconds ahead over the next fastest competitor, England’s Kitty Scott, while Holly came just two seconds behind Scott.
The Rentons also claimed gold and bronze respectively at for the Sacred Heart School at the the All-Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships.
