There are celebrations in Garrymore today after teenage defender Eoin McGreal was named in the Electric Ireland Minor Football Team of the Year. The 'Minor All-Stars' were announced this morning and McGreal, who had a stellar season for Mayo was named in the full-back line.
It caps a good week for Eoin who helped Carras to the County C title last Wednesday when the South Mayo side defeated Belmullet in Hastings MacHale Park, thanks in part to a stunning goal from the over-lapping defender.
Earlier this year, Mayo retained their Connacht minor title impressively when defeating Galway in Tuam Stadium and McGreal was a central figure, playing a pivotal role in a very entertaining encounter.
Eoin is the only Connacht player in the Team of the Year which is made up of six players from All Ireland champions Derry, five from beaten finalists Monaghan, two from Kerry and one apiece from Mayo and Dublin.
