Seven Mayo communities have joined forces for Féile na Garraí 2026 - the country-wide celebration of food, community, and culture.

Currane, Cashel, Crossmolina, Bangor, Ballycastle, Kildamhnaitt Mens Shed, and Glenamoy will come together in a collaborative growing project running from March to September 2026.

From weekly gardening workshops and intergenerational skill-sharing to a month-long harvest festival in September, Féile na Garraí 2026 aims to connect people to the land, each other, and the Irish language through joyful, inclusive, and sustainable activity.

The project is supported by a wide network of local partners, Mayo North East, Men’s Sheds, Flourish, the ICA, An Corrán Active Retirement Group, and Sláintecare-supported health and wellbeing initiatives.

Each participating centre will host free gardening classes, and in September, four flagship harvest events will take place in Currane, Cashel, Kildamhnaitt, and Ballycastle.

Speaking on the project, one organiser said:

“Féile na Garraí is about so much more than food. It’s about belonging, culture, creativity, and pride of place.”
