Nominations are now being sought from Mayo PPN member organisations for representatives to the Mayo PPN Secretariat Committee. The Secretariat Committee is the administrative body of the PPN and Secretariat members, elected by all groups registered with Mayo PPN. The Secretariat also oversee the day-to-day operation of the PPN and implement the PPN workplan.
The Mayo Public Participation Network is the main link through which the local authority connects with the community, voluntary and environmental sectors. Mayo PPN aims to enable community organisations to articulate a diverse range of views
and interests within the local government system, and to allow a diversity of voices and interests to be facilitated and involved in the decision-making process of Mayo County Council and other relevant bodies.
The Secretariat is a county-level committee and is broad and representative of the different geographical areas and the three Pillars (Environment, Social Inclusion and Community and Voluntary) within County Mayo and reflective of the diversity of the membership. The Secretariat Committee is made of 14 members, two from each of the 3 Pillars and two from each of the 4 Municipal Districts.
The role of each Secretariat member is to become an active member of the administrative arm of Mayo Public Participation Network and work in line with the following responsibilities and decision-making powers:
• Coordinate and facilitate activities of the Mayo Public Participation Network
• Respond to the needs of Mayo Public Participation Network as deemed appropriate
• Build networking relationships within the Mayo Public Participation Network structure to facilitate development of optimum consultation practices
• Oversee the proper functioning of the Mayo Public Participation Network in between Plenaries and make decisions in relation to the day to day running of the PPN
• Manage and monitor the PPN budget
• Devise, implement and review the work plan with the local authority
• Champion the PPN across the PPN community
There is no specific experience required. Full training and support will be provided to all committee members. Current vacancies on the Secretariat Committee are listed on the nomination form. The closing date for receipt of completed nomination forms is Monday March 30 2026 at 4pm. Late nomination forms will not be accepted.
