Crews continuing repairs to Crossmolina burst this morning

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing to work to repair a burst water main in Crossmolina. Crews successfully located and isolated the source of the burst late last night and commenced repairs to the pipe this morning.

Some homes and businesses in Rathnamagh, Crossmolina and surrounding areas may be experiencing reductions in pressure or intermittent outages this morning as a result of this significant burst.

Alternative water supplies in the form of tankers remain available for impacted customers at Rathnamagh and Abbeytown. Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when drawing water from the tankers, and to boil the water before use as a precautionary measure.

Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann explained that this was a difficult burst to locate, and thanked affected customers for their cooperation. “This is a significant and complex burst, but it has been successfully located by our crews and repairs have commenced this morning,” said Colette.

“We acknowledge the impact of unplanned water disruptions on customers and we wish to thank impacted homeowners and businesses for their understanding while we work to restore normal supply as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit water.ie.
