Gardaí to host free property marking events in North Mayo on Saturday, February 14.
An Garda Síochána in Mayo has announced a free Property Marking Event taking place on Saturday, February 14, at two North Mayo locations. This event is part of ongoing efforts to prevent theft and support rural communities.
The two events are being organised by Gardaí attached to the Mayo North Community Engagement Area, and will take place at Ardagh GAA Grounds (F26 EC52) from 10am to 12pm, followed by Moygownagh Community Centre (F26 XRR9) from 1pm to 3pm.

Property marking involves engraving an owner’s Eircode onto valuable items such as farm machinery, tools, equipment and other personal property using a specialist marking machine.
Gardaí say the measure is a simple but highly effective deterrent to theft and can greatly assist in the identification and recovery of stolen property.
The service is completely free of charge, and members of the community are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the opportunity. Gardaí have advised attendees to bring their Eircode along with any items they wish to have marked.
In the coming months, more Property Marking Events will take place across other parts of Mayo.
Gardaí say community participation is key to tackling crime and stress that, by working together, residents can help keep Mayo a safer place for everyone.
