Water supply restored in West Mayo area after major burst

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing to work to restore normal water supply to all areas of Achill Island affected by supply disruptions over the weekend.

As of this morning, all areas of the island affected by water outages as a result of a major burst have been restored bar Curraun, which is still being impacted by reduced supply.

Customers to the south of the island in areas including Cloughmore, Shraheens, Dereens, Cashel and surrounding areas may continue to experience low pressure over the course of the day as reservoir levels replenish.

An alternative water supply remains available to impacted customers at Lavelles of Dooega. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from a tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.

Patrick McDonnell of Uisce Éireann thanked customers for their ongoing patience as supply is restored to all impacted customers.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while we work to restore full supply,” said Patrick.
