SE Systems, one of Ireland’s leading energy solutions providers, has announced the recipients of €500,000 in funding to 45 community and charity organisations across the country under its Community Fund. The funding will support a wide range of sustainable energy upgrades, from solar PV systems and LED lighting to insulation and heating improvements, helping to future-proof community facilities.

There were three Mayo projects that received funding including Mayo Mental Health Association, Castlebar; the Charlestown Community Organic Garden and Mayo North East Tús/RSS.

The Community Fund, which first launched in 2022, has now awarded over €3 million to projects nationwide. This independent fund supports non-profits, charities, sports clubs and voluntary organisations to lower their carbon footprint, cut energy costs, and strengthen local resilience.

This year’s recipients span all four provinces, with 21 projects in Munster, 14 in Leinster, 6 in Connacht and 4 in Ulster.

John O’Leary, Co-Founder and CEO of SE Systems, said: “One of the values that drives us is building greener, more resilient places to live and work. Our Community Fund enables that vision, providing long-term, viable energy solutions for local organisations that are the backbone of Ireland’s towns and villages.”

He added that the fund is made possible through a unique mechanism developed with SE Systems’ commercial clients as part of SEAI Community Energy Grant applications: “This collaborative approach redirects private sector investment into community-based energy projects, helping grassroots organisations achieve their sustainable energy ambitions.”

Youenn Lowry, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SE Systems, said: “These projects demonstrate the vital role communities can play in building a greener, more sustainable Ireland. We are proud to support local organisations in achieving lasting energy improvements that benefit people and places across the country.”

Headquartered in Cork with regional offices in Dublin, SE Systems has delivered over €900 million worth of energy projects, retrofitting 14,000 homes and 1,700 commercial and community buildings nationwide, saving 1.6 Billion kWh of energy and 358,000 tonnes of CO₂.
