Mayo town left mourning after passing of former school principal

John’s Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, October 4 at 11am prior to burial in Kilconduff Cemetery.

In recent days, Swinford and the surrounding areas have been left mourning after the passing of John Gallagher.

John was a previous principal of Scoil Muire agus Padraig in Swinford while also being a very popular man in the surroundings of East Mayo

John died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 30 after a short illness. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

 Pre-deceased by his parents Hubert and Catherine and his brother Seamus, John is deeply mourned by his devoted wife Mary and his children Claire, Shane, Michael and Aidan, his much-adored grandchildren Grace, Seán, Niamh, Hugh, Kate, Maedbh and Saoirse, his daughters-in-law Lorraine, Caríona and Eliza, his brother Michael and his sister Maureen, his extended family, and his wide circle of friends and neighbours. 

John will repose in Campbell’s Funeral Home, Swinford (F12YE00) on Friday, October 3 from 5pm until 7.30pm with removal to the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, Swinford arriving at 8pm.

John’s Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, October 4 at 11am prior to burial in Kilconduff Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Swinford Meals and Wheels.
