Event marking 'International Day of Older Persons' set for Mayo GAA club this week

This Wednesday, October 1 will see an event marking ‘International Day of Older Persons’ take place at Breaffy GAA Club. The event is being hosted by the Mayo ICPOP (integrated care team for older people).

The purpose of the event is to promote healthy aging and longevity and includes a panel of expert guest speakers answering questions on all aspects of ageing and living well in Mayo.

Muintir Na Tíre are proud to partner with the Mayo ICPOP team in the delivery of the event. Both CEO, Rosie Palmer, and Community Alert Development Officer, Gerard Costello, will be in attendance to launch "Community Alert Month" on the day.

An engaging panel of expert guest speakers will be there to answer any questions in relation to aspects of ageing and living well in Mayo. 

Guest speakers include Gráinne Cafferty who is an advanced specialist pharmacist at the Mayo University Hospital; Ethna Kelly who is a clinical nurse manager with ICPOP and Ogechi Nsoedo who is a HSE health promotion and improvement officer/pelvic continence specialist. 

Other guest speakers include Mary Bourke, a senior dietician at ICPOP; Mairead Bradley, a senior occupational therapist at Mayo virtual ward and Katie Merrick, a senior physiotherapist at ICPOP.

The event will take place this Wednesday, October 1, at Breaffy GAA Club (Eircode:F23T228) from 12.30 until 4pm. Tickets are free and can be got here or by calling 094 9049291.
