Payments commencing today is a significant milestone achieved and is in line with dates agreed in the Farmers’ Charter.
Minister of State and Mayo TD, Alan Dillon has said 9,050 Mayo farmers will start receiving their payments under the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) scheme from today (Wednesday).
Minister Dillon said the 9,050 Mayo farmers will receive a total funding amount of €19,668,921 under the scheme. Nationally, advance payments totalling €183.2 million have been issued by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to 86,985 farmers under the ANC scheme. Payments commencing today is a significant milestone achieved and is in line with dates agreed in the Farmers’ Charter.
Minister Dillon said: “The ANC scheme is crucial to farm families across Mayo, and I know the importance of getting payments out to applicants as quickly as possible. The issuing of these payments in mid-September highlights our commitment to make payments to farmers at the earliest possible time.
“Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days, and the department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as they meet scheme criteria.”
Minister Dillon said he was also delighted to receive confirmation from his colleague and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon that his Department is on track to facilitate payment of the 70% advance under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS), and Complementary Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS) from October 16, and payments under the Eco-scheme from October 23.
