Wind forces helicopter carrying Mayo emergency patient to land away from UHG

Garda Hugh Rodgers and Garda Declan Mulligan of the Community Policing Unit assisting the Air Corps and the National Ambulance Service.

Windy conditions forced an Air Corps AW139 Emergency Air Ambulance to land away from University Hospital Galway today. 

The National Ambulance Service were carrying out an emergency patient transfer from Mayo to Galway when the helicopter was forced to change its landing spot.

The emergency patient transfer landed in South Park, Galway, where it was met by an ambulance and garda escort to ensure it arrived at the hospital as quickly as possible. 

An Garda Síochána Galway Facebook page described the cooperation between the gardaí, National Ambulance Service and Air Corps as " a great example of agencies working together."
