It has been confirmed that emergency works to repair a Mayo bridge will cause a closure stretching into, at the very earliest, the second week of September.

In a statement, Mayo County Council confirmed that the bridge, on the R321 in Bohola, will be subject to closure in order to facilitate the emergency repair works.

The bridge is in the townland of Barleyhill, near the turn at the Bohola Cemetery. The route frequently services commuters from Ballina to the south of the county.

The Council have stated that, for regular drivers of the route, diversions will be available to the N5 to Ballyvary, before taking the N58 Straide Road to Foxford.
