Two Mayo natives nominated for IMRO Radio Awards

The IMRO Radio Awards is a celebration of the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and stations to the Irish radio landscape.

The excitement is building as the IMRO Radio Awards unveils the highly anticipated shortlist for 2025, showcasing the best and brightest talents across the Irish radio industry. This year’s awards saw an unprecedented number of entries, highlighting the unwavering passion and creativity thriving within the sector.

The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on Friday, October 3 at the prestigious Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny.

This year, there are two Mayo DJ’s who are nominated for awards. Ray Foley, originally from Ballina, has been nominated in the General Music Programme category for his show which airs on Today FM. Crossmolina’s Louise Duffy has been nominated for Best Radio DJ of the Year. Louise works on RTÉ’s Radio One.

The Awards Committee extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who entered the awards, pushing the boundaries of radio excellence. A special thank you also goes to the esteemed judges for their dedication in listening to every entry and carefully selecting the shortlist.

Chris Doyle, Chairperson of the IMRO Radio Awards, said: “We’re thrilled to reveal the shortlist for the 2025 IMRO Radio Awards, following an incredible judging process. This year saw a record number of entries, a testament to the strength, creativity, and passion within Irish radio.

The diverse and inspiring work recognised in this year’s IMRO Radio Awards shortlist highlights the strength of Irish broadcasting and its vital role in our national conversation." 

Aoife MacEvilly, Broadcasting and Video-On-Demand Commissioner from Coimisiún na Meán, said: ‘’Coimisiún na Meán is delighted to support the IMRO Radio Awards again this year. The Awards celebrate the best of Irish radio, highlighting the talent, creativity and innovation that exists within the sector. We know from the recent Reuters Digital News Report Ireland that Irish audiences continue to have an enduring and longstanding relationship with radio. I want to extend our congratulations to all of the nominees who have been shortlisted and to wish them the best of luck for the Awards in October.''
