DO NOT SWIM: Notice put in place fore two major Mayo beaches

Mulrannny Beach was one of the beaches issued with a swimming warning by Mayo County Council.

Two Mayo beaches have been hit with an advisory for swimmers in the wake of heavy rainfall in the county.

Yesterday (Tuesday, August 25), Mayo County Council issued notices for two swimming spots on the Atlantic coast.

Firstly, a 'do not swim' notice was put in place for Mulranny beach-goers.

Next, an advisory not to swim was placed on Achill's Golden Strand beach.

The decisions were taken in the wake of water sampling at both locations, and an update will be issues on the status of the popular areas in due course.
