A popular German TV show that amasses millions of viewers will be showing the best that Mayo has to offer after filming in the county in recent weeks.
'Wunderschön', which is broadcast by public network WDR, is a show that takes its viewers to unique and interesting places in all four corners of the globe, and soon they will be shining their lights on the West of Ireland.
During their time in Mayo, presenter Tamina Kallert sampled many of the unique experiences on many of our doorsteps, including walking Bertra beach with a pair of Irish wolfhounds, exploring the history and stunning surrounds of Westport House, and standing on the edge of the Atlantic in Achill.
Tourism Ireland's market manager in Germany, Nadine Lehmann, was delighted to see one of the staples of German travel television touch down in Mayo.
“We were delighted to invite the crew from ‘Wunderschön’ to come and film on our beautiful island," she stated. "It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the landscapes, experiences, and characters which make Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way such a great place to visit. Our aim is to inspire viewers of the show to come and experience Ireland for themselves.
“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity to inspire travellers about what Ireland has to offer for a holiday in 2025 and beyond.”
