A Mayo pub will be toasting national acclaim after being listed as one of the top ten across Ireland by the Sunday Times.
McDonnell's Bar and Undertakers in Belmullet was named at number six in the list, which compiled the top 50 bars around the country.
The bar, also known as 'The Lobster Pot', was the subject of rave reviews from the panel who were passing judgment, with particular acclaim being handed to the bar's 'perfect pints, live music, and crackling turf fire'.
The pub is run by Pauric Conroy, and its location on the Wild Atlantic Way, as well as the hospitality and cosy nature of the Lower Barrack Street venue, make it a hotspot for tourists and locals alike.
The judges, including Alid Dunworth, author of 'A Compendium of Irish Pints', and John and Sally McKenna from McKenna's guides, also singled out the venue for the 'ability to draw international visitors.
McDonnell's finds itself among illustrious company on the list, with The Gravedigger's outside Glasnevin cemetery and Dingle's Dick Mack's occupying first and second place, respectively.
