Now, those looking to purchase a home in Mayo are expected to pay an average price of €265,000 for a second-hand three-bedroom semi-detached home.
Other data included in the survey shows that half of the purchasers in the county were first-time home buyers, with 20 per cent of sales coming from landlords getting out of the rental market.
The national average price rose by 2.6 per cent, meaning that Mayo is an outlier in this regard, over tripling the national average.
Robert McGreal, the CEO of REA McGreal Burke, spoke on the scarcity of properties available in the county.
“We are experiencing very low supply, with a total of just seven properties sold in Castlebar in this quarter,” said McGreal.
