Water supply restored on Clare Island following repair works

Uisce Éireann workers have carried out repairs to the water supply on Clare Island

THE water supply in Clare Island is returning to normal after Uisce Éireann crews repaired a burst water mains on the island.

Crews arrived on the island this morning to carry out repairs after the burst caused a disruption to supply for islanders in Kill, Glen, Fawnlass, Capnagower and the Quay.

Clare Island has had ongoing issues with its water supply, which is due to be upgraded later this summer.
Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill thanked residents and visitors to the island for their patience while crews worked throughout the day.

“Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for customers on higher ground or at the end of the network,” she explained.
