RIP: 'One of life's gentlemen' remembered in Mayo town upon passing

PAUL Morris, Ballinacostello, Knock, Mayo, formerly of Bekan, RIP

PAUL Morris, Ballinacostello, Knock, Mayo, and formerly of Bekan, died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Mayo Hospice Castlebar and oncology day units in both Galway and Castlebar after an illness borne with courage and dignity.

Paul was held in great regard by all who knew him, and he faced his illness with remarkable courage and strength.

He spent several years as a member of staff at Knock Airport where his kindness to colleagues and people passing through endeared him to so many.

A keen swimmer, Paul was a cherished member of Claremorris Swimming Club. He had a great passion for motorbikes and loved the freedom heading down those country roads.

Frank and Deirdre Browne, Ballyhaunis, were among those joining in the tributes to Paul.

“We had the privilege of working with and getting to know Paul at Knock Airport. Professionally he was diligent, conscientious and his attention to detail was second to none.

"But the true Paul was in his personality. He was kind, caring, thoughtful and funny. He was indeed one of life's gentlemen.”

Debbie Beirne said Paul was “a truly beautiful soulful human being, wise and deep. He was a true gentleman, heart and soul.”

Matt Macken, Crossboyne and Dublin, commented: “He was a colleague of mine in Knock Airport for many years. Paul was always a gentleman, courteous, trustworthy and dependable.

Reposing was at the Marian Funeral Home, Knock, and Mass was celebrated in Knock Parish Church and followed by private cremation.

Paul, who was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Dan, and his brothers, Padraic and Martin, will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by his wife Yvonne, and a proud, son Jayke, the extended family, brothers, friends, in-laws, and colleagues, all of whom held him in the highest regard.
