At the black-tie event in Rochestown, Cork, Mayo Day scooped the accolade ahead of four other events, including Christmas in Castlebar. The Achill Ireland Greenway was also shortlisted for honours in the Best Trail/Waterway in Ireland category.
Mayo Day aims to celebrate all things Mayo, and last year on May 4 a twin event in Belmullet and Chicago took place with culture, music, arts, sports and food all being celebrated.
The eleventh edition of the county celebration is due to take place on Saturday, May 3.
