It was a great event for Westport, as Knockranny House was another Mayo business to scoop honours. The 97-room venue was awarded a Merit award in the hotel and category.
Ballintubber Abbey ensured that it wasn’t just Westport leading the way. The ancient relic scored highly in the eyes of CIÉ customers, whose feedback determined award winners. The Abbey received a Merit award in the visitor experience category.

Stephen Cotter, the managing director of CIÉ Tours, believes that these awards and awards such as these are just rewards for the efforts of those working to bring the highest standards to tourists.
“We are delighted to honour these leaders in tourism in Mayo,” he said congratulating the three businesses at the ceremony.
“Each of these businesses play a significant role in the Irish tourism industry while also making important contributions to their local communities in terms of jobs and wealth creation.”
