Man assaulted in Castlebar in stable condition in Mayo University Hospital as road reopens

Gardaí are continuing to investigate an assault on a male on Tucket Street in Castlebar

A man who was assaulted in Castlebar in the early hours of this morning (Friday, December 20) is understood to be in a stable condition in hospital. 

Tucket Street has reopened in the town after a serious assault occurred there at approximately 3 am. This resulted in a man in his 20s being brought to Mayo University Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries. 

No arrests have been made at this time pertaining to the assault.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the matter and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
