'My musical hero, my big brother and my friend' - Outpouring of tributes following Mayo man's passing

Tributes have been paid following the death of Greg Pearle formerly of Cathedral Road, Ballina.

Greg is remembered by all as a talented musician, with many mourners sharing condolences and memories of his love of music.

On Greg's rip.ie book of condolences, one person wrote: "Greg’s voice was like no other, filled with a depth of warmth and richness that made every note unforgettable."

Another said: "Possibly the best time of my life was going to the yukon in Mullingar to see Cúnla play on Monday nights. Greg sang his heart out! Steve thumped the beat Jay kept the groove and Johnny played the guitar beautifully.

"It was the highlight of the week for a long time. And now they're just memories. He had a completely unique voice and a good soul. We will all miss him."

A former employer of Greg also paid tribute as she wrote: "Greg worked for me in the Pitstop cafe in Mullingar and I had great time for Greg both as an employee and a musician. I have a lot of great memories, and I'm very sad to hear of his passing. I hope you're singing in heaven."

Greg's heartbroken sister Regina shared a loving tribute to her late brother saying: "My beautiful brother, I’m heartbroken Greg. You were my musical hero, my big brother and my friend. My heart swells with pride at all of your achievements and I see you every time I look at Cillian.

"Beautiful inside and out Greg. You are home now in Mam’s arms and she’ll keep you safe. Until we meet again Greg, I love you to the moon."

Greg is predeceased by his parents Tommy and Chrissy, his sister Anita and his brother-in-law Tom.

He will be remembered as the beloved brother of Richard, Maureen Moyles, Catherine Oliver, Carol Pearle and Regina Pearle.

He will be sadly missed by his brother, his sisters, brother-in-law Derek (Fitzer), Alan Maloney, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, his many friends through music and lastly his beloved dog Bella. 

Reposing will take place at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina (F26 V274) on Friday evening, November 1, from 5pm until 6pm.

Private cremation to take place for family.
