Premier League legends to take part in Mayo soccer series

Mayo will see an array of football legends make their way to the county over the coming months.

Castlebar will host a series of special evenings at the TF Royal, featuring football legends who shaped the history of the game. Fans will have the rare opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of their illustrious careers and iconic moments.

Beginning on Sunday, November 24, Manchester United heroes Andy Cole and Jaap Stam will take the stage. 

Cole, who is the third-highest goalscorer in Premier League history, will share memories from his time in United’s treble-winning squad. 

Regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time, Stam will offer his perspective on United’s golden era and playing alongside legends like Beckham, Keane, and Scholes.

Another Manchester United phenomenon will visit the venue on Sunday, December 8.

Irish football legend Paul McGrath, known for his incredible talent and resilience, will share stories from his time at Manchester United and his pivotal role in Ireland’s World Cup campaigns. Fans will gain insight into both his triumphs on the field and the challenges he faced off the pitch.

Additionally, Liverpool superstar John Barnes will conclude the series on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Barnes will reflect on his time during Liverpool’s dominance of English football, sharing stories of his debut season and the team’s unbeaten run, as well as his personal highs and lows as a key figure in one of the sport’s most celebrated teams.
