Four County Mayo men have made it into this year's Guinness World Records for breaking the record for the longest marathon group hug.
On September 12, the iconic Guinness book of records releases its 70th Anniversary edition worldwide. And this year, Castlebar will make an appearance!
Stephen Rattigan, Brian Cawley, Nicky Kearney and Robert Tuomey broke the record for the longest marathon group hug, lasting a whopping 30 hours and 1 minute. The group hug took place in Market Square, Castlebar, County Mayo from May 4 to May 5 in 2019.
This is the second time the four men smashed the record, with their previous record breaking hug taking place in 2017.
They raised over €6,700 for charity through partaking in the challenge. Combined with their previous record attempts in 2017, they have made over €12,000 for charities.
The Mayo lads are said to be delighted to get their names in this year's Guinness World Records.
