BALLINROBE athlete Oisín Joyce could be given a civic reception by Mayo County Council for winning a bronze medal at the World Athletics U-20 Championships.

Local county councillors Damien Ryan and Michael Burke have backed calls for the local authority to afford Mr Joyce with a civic reception in recognition of his record-breaking achievements.

In doing so, he set a national U-20 record with a bronze medal-winning 73.89 metre throw.
