East Mayo man (20s) understood to be victim of road accident in Sligo

A 27-year-old man who died in a road accident in Co Sligo is understood to be from the East Mayo area, The Mayo News has learned. 

The man, who has not yet been named publicly, was killed after a van he was driving collided with a lorry shortly after 6am on the N15 at Urlar, Drumcliffe this morning (Sunday, August 4)

The driver and sole occupant of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the lorry was taken to Sligo University Hospital for assessment for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The local Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, those with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, who were travelling between Drumcliffe and Grange at the time of the collision to come forward.
