POPULAR Mayo man Paddy Joe Foy has climbed Croagh Patrick for the sixty-seventh time.

Mr Foy, who operates a jarvey service in Westport, braved wet conditions when he climbed the Reek on Garland Friday, two days before thousands descended on the mountain for Reek Sunday.

The Drummindoo native is well-known among Mayo horse owners and has been a driving force behind the annual Westport Horse Fair for many years.

Over 5,000 people in total are estimated to have climbed Croagh Patrick last weekend, which was blessed with mostly favourable weather conditions.
