A local darts fundraiser held earlier this year has raised over €3,000 for the Irish Society for Autism.
The darts competition was held in the Cu Chulainn Bar on Altamont Street in Westport and was the idea of local man Cain Moore, who enlisted the help of his sister, Rebecca; mum Noreen; dad Michael and cousin John to make sure things ran smoothly on the evening.
A total of €3,360 was raised for this deserving cause and organiser Cain would like to thank all the businesses who contributed spot prizes for the night, from Westport, Louisburgh, Newport and Castlebar. There were simply to many to list individually but a sincere thank you to everyone for their generosity.
Ronan Duffy was the overall winner of the darts fundraiser, and received his prizes from organiser Cain Moore.
A special thanks also to Adrian and Emer Robb from Cu Chulainn's Bar Westport who hosted the competition, sponsored the finger food and helped out on the night.
The Irish Society for Autism was created in 1963, and has long campaigned for Autism in Ireland and worldwide. They are the longest established specialist service for people with Autism in Ireland. The Society was formed with the goals of creating awareness about Autism, and convincing the authorities that early diagnosis and specialised education would greatly enhance the quality of life for Autistic people. Since 1963 the Irish Society for Autism has been providing information for thousands of people, parents, families, educators, students and health care workers.
