Westport GAA is proud to announce a recent generous donation of €10,000 to local charity, Meals on Wheels.
The funds were raised during the club's recent OsKaRs fundraiser, an event which saw tremendous support and participation from the community.
The OsKaRs fundraiser, an event that involves local talent recreating well known movie scenes, was held at the end of April and received an overwhelming response, both within the club and in the wider community.
Everyone came together in the spirit of fun and generosity, showcasing their acting skills and raising funds for a worthy cause.
“We are thrilled to be able to support Westport Meals on Wheels with this donation,” said Michael O'Brien, Chairman of Westport GAA.
“The work they do is invaluable, providing nutritious meals and essential social contact to many of our elderly and vulnerable neighbours. It’s an honour for us to contribute to such a vital service in our community,” he added.
Westport Meals on Wheels has been a cornerstone of our local community for years, delivering meals to those in need and ensuring that they have regular contact with a friendly face.
This donation will help the organisation continue its important work and expand its services to reach even more people.
“It was an absolutely amazing donation for us to receive,” said Clare Walsh, Manager of Westport Meals on Wheels.
She continued: “Every donation we receive is so appreciated and all goes towards helping us continue to provide our service, and with everything changing so much for us in the next few months it will certainly help. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of local organisations like Westport GAA.”
The success of the OsKaRs fundraiser highlights the strong community spirit in Westport. It is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.
Westport GAA extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, and donated to make the event a success.
