Gardaí in Westport have received a report and are investigating an incident in which a dog was fatally injured following an attack by another dog on the Greenway Walk in Westport. The incident occurred shortly after 7pm on Thursday, June 27.
Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and was travelling in the area at the time, is asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 50230, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Signs have also been erected at the Greenway making an appeal for the public to come forward with information. The owners of the deceased dog said she was attacked by an out of control dog, which they say can be best described as 'a grey and white pitbull'. They also claim there was no adult present when the attack took place, just children. They have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward to Westport Gardaí.
