Westport DSU An Post bids farewell to long-serving postman Joe Sheridan

Mayo postman retires after 43 years service

Ger Dawson, Manager of Westport DSU, presents Joe Sheridan with the Cuchulainn Statue for his 43 years service to An Post.

After 43 years of dedicated service, the Westport Delivery Service Unit (DSU) of An Post have announced the retirement of beloved postman, Joe Sheridan, from Sandyhill. Known affectionately to his colleagues as 'Long Joe' for his towering presence and enduring commitment, Joe leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, and camaraderie.

Throughout his long tenure, Joe's droll wit and uncanny ability to disappear, were a constant source of amusement for his fellow postal workers. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

An Post colleagues of Joe Sheridan, past and present, gathered to mark his retirement as a postman in Westport.

To commemorate his retirement, a large gathering of past and present postal operatives gathered to bid farewell to Joe and celebrate his many years of service. The outpouring of support and well-wishes is a testament to the impact that Joe has had on the Westport DSU community.

As Joe embarks on this new chapter in his life, the Westport DSU An Post extends its heartfelt gratitude for his dedication, friendship, and unwavering commitment to the postal service. Joe's legacy will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe is the second long serving postman to retire in recent weeks, with his colleague Sean McGing having retired earlier this month after 44 years service.
