Popular Mayo café to be re-opened

Linenhall’s Siopa Caife in Castlebar will re-open next week

Popular Mayo café to be re-opened

The café has been temporarily closed for refurbishment

The beloved Linenhall coffee shop, Siopa Caife in Castlebar is set to re-open on Tuesday, July 2.

The café, which has been renowned for its warm welcome, has been temporarily closed for a refreshing update.

The re-opening bring updated opening hours, a reimagined, tasty menu, fancy new coffees (warm, strong and smooth), a new takeaway coffee service served from the hatch from 8.30am, and excitingly a brand-new team led by the fantastic, newly appointed manager, Charlotte Connor.

To celebrate reopening, the team is offering a free coffee to the first ten customers through the door at 10am on the day.

The Linenhall coffee shop is not a profit-making enterprise. With the Linenhall Arts Centre being a registered charity, it heavily relies on the support (financial and otherwise) of the local community, in continuing to provide this arts service to everyone in the locality. Siopa Caife plays a fundamental role in that offering.

An integral part of the building, the café is a space for artists and the wider community to have an opportunity to engage with culture, art and expression, initiating dialogue around it whilst enjoying a beverage, tasty sandwich and a chat.

Many of the venue’s events and performances are held within the café space, in addition to regular meetings for local groups including Ciorcal Comhrá and Wild Atlantic Words Festival, with Linenhall initiatives such as World Book Club also happening there.

In total, there are three dining areas, the café itself, the large open foyer space (child and buggy friendly), showcasing community art exhibitions; and a serene outdoor coffee garden - the perfect sun trap during summer.

From July 2, the Linenhall’s siopa caife will open each week, Tuesday–Saturday, from 10am to 3.30pm.

Takeaway coffees will be served from the hatch from 8.30am to 10am each morning.
