Mayo gardaí bust young unaccompanied learner speeding over 170km/h with worn tyre on N17

Gardaí have seized the car of an unaccompanied learner after they were caught speeding 171km/h on the N17.

While Mayo Roads Policing Unit were carrying out a checkpoint on the N17 late this Monday night, they confirmed detecting a car being driven 171kp/h in a 100kp/h zone.

When stopped, gardaí that the young driver was an unaccompanied learner permit holder and the car had a dangerously worn tyre.

The car was subsequently seized.
