The popular West Bar and Restaurant has been closed for two months for redevelopment
An iconic Westport bar and restaurant will finally re-open this week.
The West Bar and Restaurant in the heart of the town has been undergoing developments for the past two months in order to take the local dining experience ‘to a new level’.
They will re-open their doors at the bottom of Bridge Street tomorrow, Friday, to unveil the changes and welcome back their customers, old and new.
The joyful news of re-opening was shared via social media yesterday, where the owners wrote on Facebook: “This Friday will be our first day open in 2024, and it hasn’t come soon enough! Make sure to pop in and see how all this past two months hard work has paid off!”.
At the time of closure, owner of the West Bar and Restaurant, Martin Brennan, told The Mayo News that they will be developing a new downstairs kitchen to ‘transform’ the business.
“My big focus was getting my kitchen downstairs because it is upstairs at the moment, which is a nightmare from all points of view,” he said, and added that he hoped to market the upstairs area as a separate, ‘private’ section, for events and parties.
Furthermore, there were plans for an additional 20 seats in the downstairs gastropub area.
“It will bring pub grub to a whole new level in the town of Westport,” said Mr Brennan.
The bar and restaurant will be opened for lunch, dinner, or a few pints tomorrow from 12.30pm.
