John Gormley to officially open €3.8 million Ballycroy visitor centre

Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Mr John Gormley, TD, will be in Mayo tomorrow, Friday, April 30, to officially open the Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre. The centre cost €3.8 million to build and opened to the public in July 2009. It also houses a café, as well as a classroom, which is being used for evening lectures and seminars. The Minister will perform the official opening at 2.30pm tomorrow.

Ballinrobe Racecourse launch website ahead of first meeting

Racing for the 2010 season begins at Ballinrobe on Tuesday next, May 4, and now punters all over the world can stay in touch with the course’s newly-launched website.
The site – www.BallinrobeRaceCourse.ie – officially went live this week and it will now be one of the primary communication vehicles for the course. It coincides with Tuesday’s opening meeting of the year, with first race at 5.40pm.

Meeting in Claremorris for farmers to discuss CAP renegotiation

The McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris is the venue next Tuesday for a meeting organised by Fine Gael for farmers from the west to discuss the renegotiation of the Common Agricultural Policy.
The meeting on May 4 starts at 8pm and Fine Gael deputy John O’Mahony has said with so much uncertainty about the future of the industry it is vitally important that as many farmers as possible attend. Among the speakers will be Professor Gerry Boyle, Director of Teagasc.
